The town centre is a fundamental part of the masterplan and as such is now seeing some key improvements to ensure it remains a core component of the town.

Focused on the heart of the town, the Bay View shopping centre, Station Road and Railway Station, the regeneration project has sought to ensure an easy pedestrian flow between these areas.

It is also vital the town and the waterfront are reconnected and the masterplan has accounted for this by upgrading the waterfront – town link and incorporating additional signage. The town is already benefitting from these improved linkages and the additional footfall that the new waterfront, with its year round dry beach and enhanced promenade, is bringing.

Through the Townscape Heritage Initiative generous grants are available to restore and renovate key buildings in the heart of the town centre – an attractive incentive for anyone interested in opportunities in the town.

In 2014, Conwy County Borough Council announced its office accommodation strategy and purchased strategic premises in the town centre. This significant public sector confidence in Colwyn Bay will soon bring over 750 employees into the heart of the town to add to the footfall and support the local economy.

Redevelopment of the town is an ongoing and evolving process and plans for the heart of the town centre are currently being revisited to ensure the most appropriate developments to maximise benefits and impact.
